2011 La Conserva della neve – Preserving the snow

On 16th September 2011 the 9th Festival "La Conserva della neve" (i.e. Preserving the snow) opens to the public in Rome: the cultural and advertising event shows the new "green art forms" and landscape architecture to the public, talking about biodiversity. The best Italian and European garden centers will show their creations: these nurseries produce plants of every kind; artists, scholars and important landscape architects will give lectures and present books on this topic. This event is really becoming an international meeting, and that's why this year it's going to take place inside the wonderful Parco dei Daini, in the historical Villa Borghese.

The landscape architects from "Atelier le balto", have been invited in order to develop an example of new garden planning: they will try to satisfy the increasing need of citizens for a better life and a healthier diet, in full respect of nature. They will also try to emphasize the inner value of beauty connected to landscape, living nature with sobriety.

The local Slow Food will join the event organizing specific laboratories and classes, where visitors can get to know (and try) typical products of our diet, and also planning activities for children.

The project called "Mille Orti in Africa" (Thousand gardens in Africa) will be presented too: the aim is to create fruit gardens in every African country, 1000 gardens in the schools, in the villages, in the suburbs of African metropolis.

During the event "La Conserva della neve" some typical products of African gardens will be presented to the public, particularly those from Uganda, which are cultivated by members of Slow Food Rome.
