The National Museum of Castel Sant'Angelo houses until next November 9 a really important exhibition: " Lupae and the Sphinx: Rome and Egypt from history to myth".
In a chronological arc that runs from the first century BC until the age of Renaissance, through the exhibition of paintings, sculptures, documents and valuables, is deeply put out the great feeeling between Roman and Egypt culture, and first of all the influence of the latter in the Capital art production over the centuries.
Rome is very rich in monuments that shows deep love for Egypt: obelisks in many squares, archaeological rest that clearly seems insipred by the Egyptian culture.
The Renaissance also affected the mysterious charm of customs, rituals and pharaonic myths.
"Lupae" and the Sphinx are the two symbols of two civilizations, as you can see through the exhibition, not so distant as they seem.< p> The event is sponsored by The Ministry of Cultural Assets, Soprintendenza Speciale per il Patrimonio storico, artistico ed etnoantropologico and the Polo Museum of the City of Rome.
