Also Christmas and New Year's Eve 2009 in Rome will be full of rich offers and initiatives.

In addition to the traditional dinners with family and friends, the main part of the hotels, restaurants and typical "trattoria" of the Capital, offers during the night of San Silvestre of December 31^st, night before the New Year's Eve based on typical Italian and roman Christmas menus and, for the foreign tourists attached to their own flavours, also European menus.
Already from the week of Christmas and during all the celebration period up to the first week of January, in the city it will be possible to visit the various Christmas markets in the squares with the offers of the fireworks and of the typical food for the dinner of New Year's Eve.
Concerning the so called "fireworks of New Year's Eve" it is useful to remember, above all for the foreign tourists, that it is necessary that the products sold for these occasions, fireworks and pyrotechnic fires, report on the relative conformity certificates the necessary security, which usefulness should not be necessary to explain.
During the evening of San Silvestre in Rome, as it is done every year, on the "Piazza del Quirinale" a greeting concert of classical music will be organised with the presence of the President of the Italian Republic and the most important personalities of the Italian government, who will wait for the arrival of midnight to cheer with all the guests to the new year.
During all the evening the metropolitan of Rome will extend its schedule in such a way to guarantee, also to those who have organised their travel through a classical last minute, to benefit from the programs and spectacles that Rome offers: the opened museums, the rock concerts and the concerts of classical and symphonic music in the auditorium and in the various squares of the historic centre. One should add to the already organised activities the various occasions born from the spontaneous roman spirit of hospitality with the cheers offered in the streets, the fireworks and the pyrotechnic spectacles that often in the area of Trastevere, and in other periphery areas, are organised every year by the private citizens. The celebration of New Year's Eve is the occasion, often, to dedicate some moments to memory and to manifestations in favour of peace, so that in the last years, more than once, torch-light processions for peace have been organised, almost spontaneously, properly in correspondence of the night of New year's Eve.
The first days of January, at least up to the Epiphany, remain one of the most suggestive period to visit the city of Rome; in fact, although the night and the relative celebrations of New Year's Eve are over, this winter period offers the spectacle of the roman squares with the colours of the Christmas markets together with the possibility to profit from the last events dedicated to the celebration of the new year.
